In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Blue Heart Sanctuary has extended its mission of healing and support to those on the front lines of disaster recovery and those directly impacted by the storm. Our Light After the Storm Program is designed to provide relief workers, volunteers, and affected individuals with a space for rest, restoration, and emotional healing.
The work of disaster relief is physically and emotionally demanding, often leaving volunteers and frontline workers depleted. To honor their dedication, we offer safe and peaceful accommodations at the Sanctuary, allowing them to rest and recharge amidst nature and the healing presence of animals. Volunteers also have the opportunity to participate in respite retreats, where they can engage in mindfulness practices, nature walks, and time with our rescued animals—helping them process their experiences, prevent burnout, and reconnect with a sense of purpose.
For those who have suffered loss due to Hurricane Helene, we provide healing retreats that offer a gentle space for recovery and renewal. These retreats incorporate therapeutic activities, including:
Our goal is to offer a sanctuary where individuals and families can begin to rebuild their inner peace after the devastation they have endured.
